This month we’ve rolled-out a bunch of improvements to our reporting capabilities, based on user feedback received since the feature’s initial release, just a couple of months ago.

We’ve been really excited about the different ways users have picked up this new reporting tool and used it for team-meeting dashboards, feature release trackers or even to conduct application level A/B testing.  We’ve consolidated some of this thinking in our knowledgebase – check out the video and links below. It’s a great way to learn how to use Totango reports and add clarity and depth to your customer engagement.

Cohort Tables
Super easy-to-use cohort tables can now be added to your report.  These are not the “triangle looking” cohorts that, while powerful, are sometimes somewhat hard to understand (or explain!). Rather, these are simple breakdowns that anyone can easily digest.

For example, there’s a cohort table showing the conversion rate of accounts between free and paid plans, based on their signup date.

Plus, a cohort table showing health levels by account plans, a great component in a powerful account health dashboard.

To use, add a breakdown component to your report, then select “Show in table format” in the component’s settings panel (little pencil icon)

Drill down to accounts
Click on any segment or breakdown on the report and a little panel will show up with the  relevant accounts.

It’s a great way to take action on accounts and drive them forward towards more engagement and success. For example, if a report follows progress of a new feature introduction, you may want to figure out who already adopted the new feature and send them a feedback request form.

Simply click on that segment to get a list of all relevant accounts!

Dynamic Filter
You can filter down a report to any sub-segment of accounts by using the dynamic filter. Simply click on any breakdown value, or use the Filter bar to combine filters together. The report will “narrow” down to the selected subset of accounts.

This is a great way to explore how different parts of your customer-base behave. Is the health of the Tier-1 accounts trending differently than that of the Tier-2 accounts? Are my EMEA customers engaging less or more than those from the US and so forth.

Click on the filter-bar on the top of the report and select the filter you’d like to apply.

The list of available filters is based on the report breakdowns, so make sure to first add breakdown components to the report using the report configurator.
